Kiev is the capital of Ukraine
Kiev (or Kyiv) is the capital of Ukraine, its political, administrative, cultural and scientific centre. Kiev is over 1,500 years old.

According to the ancient legend Kiev was founded by three brothers: Kij, Shchek and Khoriv and their sister Libid. They settled on the heights above the Dnieper and founded a city on one of the hills and called it Kiev after the eldest brother.
Kiev was a large commercial centre of the East Slavs and was called ‘the mother of all Russian towns’. Many historical places in Kiev remind us of its ancient history. Among them are the Golden Gate, St. Sophia’s Cathedral, St. Vladimir’s Cathedral, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, St. Andrew’s Church and many others.
At present Kiev is a leading industrial centre of Ukraine. The capital of Ukraine is known for its output of excavatore, motorcycles, cameras, river boats, planes and complicated electric measuring apparatuses. The Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is situated in Kiev. Kiev is the seat of Ukrainian Government.
